Dimitrios Lefas is a New York-born filmmaker and Lighting Engineer for Next Sound Live. He earned his degree in English and Film Studies from Lehman College, where he developed a strong foundation in storytelling, film, and visual media.
Since graduating, Dimitrios has gained hands-on experience working on multiple film sets, giving him exposure to professional production environments both in front of and behind the camera. His experience includes working as a background performer on HBO’s And Just Like That, along with continued involvement in independent film and production.
As Lighting Engineer for Next Sound Live, Dimitrios is responsible for helping shape the visual atmosphere of the show’s live performances. Through his work with the production team, he has continued developing his knowledge of television lighting, learning how placement, intensity, color, and movement can influence how an artist and performance appear on camera.
His approach goes beyond simply illuminating the stage. Dimitrios uses lighting as a creative element to establish mood, enhance performances, and contribute to the distinctive visual identity of Next Sound Live.
As he continues developing his craft, Dimitrios remains focused on expanding his technical and creative understanding of lighting for film and television while contributing to the continued growth and production quality of Next Sound Live.
